Kraak & Smaak

1. “You Don’t Know” Kraak & Smaak Remix – Smoove & Turrell – (Jalapeno)
Uptempo funky breaks remix for Jalapeno newcomers S&T; we took a more or less similar approach as with our remix for Mark Rae a while ago and that turned out to be a classic too.

2. “Monster Box” –  Jayson Brothers -(Raw Cuts 12″)
Deep house & funk for the 21st Centuryon German label that also brought us the excellent tuff Teutonic grooves of Motor City Drum Ensemble.

3. “Squeeze Me” Fedde Le Grand Remix  – Kraak & Smaak (Jalapeno)
Big room remix from FLG and a more than worthy follow up to the Trevor Loveys remixes. Now also released in Italy but wondering how they pronounce Kraak & Smaak over there.

4. “Anotha Black Sunday” – Moodymann – (KDJ album)
He keeps amazing us again and again with his releases. Includes his earlier remix for Jose James and other irresistable jazzy deephouse grooves.

5. “Unwind Yo Self” –  DJ Asparagus -(GAMM)
You might think that the hype ought to be over by now and most releases get worse and worse to be honest, but this one sticks to the funk side of things and certainly will be in the bag longer.

6. “Voyage Direct” – Tom Trago  (Rush Hour album)
First full – but too – short album by Amsterdam producer that catches exactly what we want to hear in deep house music. Tip!

7.  “Feelin You Henrik Schwarz Remix – Omar feat Stevie – (STEVIE001)
Bootleg 12″ of Omar track in Henrik Schwarz version; apparently too  weak for an official release? That label must be out of their mind…

8. “Rass Out” – Altered Natives (Fresh Minute)
Sickeningly addictive lo fi broken beat groove.

9. “Fat Peng” –  T.O.K. meet the Fatback Band (Bangers r Mashed)
Great to hear that Fatback groove again and must admit that everytime we hear this we think of Todd Terry first. He put a version out in the early 90s and not knowing the sample back then, our jaws dropped.

10. “Touch My Horn” (Jesse Rose – Dubsided)
Now also newly released with Crookers rmx but this one’s still the best. Switch-driven wobbly Fanfare house but not corny (if that’s possible?).
