01. Aaliyah  ‘Are You That Somebody’.
Cause this beat is soooooo heavy, it seems like it changed r&b almost single handedly.

02. Gap Band ‘Burn Rubber On Me’.
Amazing use of synthesizers in a r&b context.

03. Kraftwerk ‘Tour De France’.
I think this song is so ubiquitous, it never gets a huge reaction, but its really easy to mix into and out of, and feels like you are listening to pillows when the head comes in.

04. Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince ‘Brand New Funk’.
It usually gets a good response, and its got a classic beat. i loved their first few records.

05. Giorgio Moroder ‘Chase’.
This is a funny song, cause depending on the setting, people either go nuts, or look at you with that “you just played a house record, dick” look. I love it!

06. Alex Williams And The Mustangs  ‘The Thrill Ain’t Gone’.
Midwestern soul 45. Absolutely amazing song, and people love it even though its not very recognizable.

07. Daft Punk ’Da Funk’.
When I was still using records for club DJing, this always came along in my crate regardless of style, in case things got a little too “keep it real”. A lways need to have this around…

08. Mary Jane Girls ’Candy Man’.
Classic dance music – I have a serious love affair with early 80’s r&b, with the analog synth bass lines and drum machines, but before things got to be typically “80’s”.

09. Levert ’Grip’.
This groove is so raw, and comes in so hard, man… I wish I was DJing just thinking about the first 4 seconds of this song.

10. Wu-Tang ‘Gravel Pit’
I love this song, cause the drums are so wierd, and it just sounds even more surreal on a big system. This never really illicits a bit response, but I love playing it anyway.

“The Third Hand” is released through XL Records on Monday 5th March. Please confirm you have received an ad from Beggars for RJD2.
