Trainspotting with James Bright

James Bright’s career in production began in 1999 when he was introduced to legendary producer Steve Miller (AFTERLIFE). The duo went on to form the successful downbeat act LUX and their debut production Northern Lights, was signed to Café Del Mar’s compilation series. As a solo artist, James’ productions have graced labels such as Sveva Music, Eclectics, Quattro Music, NuNorthern Soul, Higher Love Recordings and more, with new release forthcoming on Sprechen and Music For Swimming Pools very soon. He has also remixed many diverse artists from Candi Staton, Roots Manuva, New Order spin off band Bad Lieutenant and many more. James’ album, ‘Little Things,’ released in 2010, has now become a sought-after classic.  As his new track ‘Amber’, taken from his forthcoming ‘Totem EP’, drops on the NuNorthern Soul’s Summer Sampler 4 release, DMCWorld goes Trainspotting with one of the chilliest DJ’s in town.

1 James Bright – Amber – NuNorthern Soul

A little bit of shameless self-promotion with this one. Amber is a track off my forthcoming Ep “Totem”, which will be released on NuNorthern Soul this summer. The track was picked by label head honcho Phil Cooper for this year’s Summer Selections Ep.

2 Afterlife – Liberty Cap – Subatomic

This is a track taken from the latest Afterlife Ep. Proving Steve Miller is still top of the game with cutting edge modern Balearic music. Warm modular synths and impeccable production.

Afterlife - Liberty Cap

3 Panoram – Seabrain (Quiet Village Remix) – Running Back

I’ve not actually heard the original of this track but this slow burning chugging remix from Quiet Village is definitely pushing all the right buttons for me.

Panoram - Seabrain (Quiet Village Remix)

4 Jimpster – Featuring Oliver Night – Ascension – Freerange

During last years lockdown when the clubs were shut Jimpster returned to his late 90’s downtempo routes and produced  the BIRDHOUSE Lp. This is the standout track for me.

5 Statues – Lele (Vanity Project Remix) – Eclectics

I really like the original of this song when it came out a couple of years ago. Vanity Project have given it a new lease of life with some beautiful vintage synths lines

6 Private Agenda – Splendour – Lo Recordings

A track from Private Agendas album “A Manneqiun”. The whole album is great with some beautifully crafted songs. This is a standout track for me.

7 Hidden Spheres – You Are Not Your Body – Rhythm Section International

A low- slung, slow-mo disco track with an infectious bass line that kicks in half way through. A beauty

8 Lex/Locke -7 Day Path – Delusions Of Grandeur

A beautiful slice of deep  house. With some classic synth sounds and a brilliant a percussive groove.

9 Space Ghost – Deep  – Tartlet

More low-slung grooves from the always on point Space Ghost. This piano led track sounds like a classic sundowner.

10 Hardway Bros Presents The Summer Six – This Is Something – Is It Balearic

Sean Johnston has brought together a stellar group of musicians to create this stunning track that sounds like Weatherall remix of a classic 90’s anthem.

‘Various Artists – Summer Selections Four’ EP will be released on vinyl, all digital download and streaming platforms on May 13th 2022 on NuNorthern Soul.
