Christian B & Lavvy Levan, Mystery, Friday Fox Recordings
I love the bouncy warm synth chords working together with funky vocal from Lavvy.
Crackazat, Proton Blue, Local Talk
Crackazat always brings the jazzy chords to his tunes. Heard this on the Most Rated 2018 Defected comp. Love it.
Urban Sound Lab, Karma (Opolopo Remix), Papa Records
Great production here from Opolopo. This reminds of some Vikter Duplaix from the early 2000’s. Really vibey.
Scott Diaz, Girlfriend, D-Vine Sounds
Again, great use of chords on this relaxed Scott Diaz production. They remind me of some of the 60’s David Axelrod changes.
Marc Tasio, Aaron K. Gray, DJ Spen, Gary Hudgins, Come By Here (DJ Spen & Gary Hudgins Remix), Quantize Records
A two-chord groover over the verse which then opens out for the Chorus. Beautiful!
Moon Rocket, Bel-Ami, Situationship (Funky Loft Remix), Doomusic
Real RnB vibes here. I know I keep talking about chords, but this one sticks with me because it has the same feel as Knee Deep by Funkadelic.
London Fields, Colour To My Life (Rapson Remix), Friday Fox Recordings
I wanted to achieve a more simplified feel to this remix, hence the single note synth riff and inclusion of the Think break. The vocal is really different to what I’ve been making so it pushed me in a new direction.
DJ Romain, Nedelka, I Didn’t Know (DJ Spen Jook Joint Vocal), unquantize
I love the more traditional house remix of this tune, but the Jook Joint Vocal mix has that latin jazz percussion loop which gets me really moving.
Nathan Adams, Sabrina Joy, Sean McCabe, Love Yourself (Main Vocal Mix), Tribe Records
Some of the most soulful house I’ve heard comes from the studio of Sean McCabe. His music is really inspiring.
Rapson ft. Nathan Thomas, Heat, Defected
Due for re-release in February. I’m really happy with the response to the record. More to come soon!
London Fields ‘Colour To My Life’ (incl. Sonny Wharton, Rapson, Christian B and Deeper The Fall Mixes) will be released on Traxsource promo on February 16th / Full release March 2nd 2018 on Friday Fox Recordings.
