Trainspotting With Sonia Scott

Sonia Scott is a music producer and DJ from Wales in the UK. Sonia has been a DJ for over 10 years having performed live for Krafted, Evolution, Anomaly and warming up for the likes of Solarstone, Paul Sawyer and Nick Muir. Sonia hnas a monthly radio show on DIFM progressive with her partner STOBY and together they present Sunset Sessions which includes all of their latest releases along with the best of Deep, Melodic and Progressive house. Sonia’s latest single is Desire, an exclusive track on Krafted X: an anniversary compilation released to celebrate 10 years of the revered progressive house label. Sasha, Franky Wah – I’ll Never Change (Shen Edit) – Shen Recordings

I have always loved Sasha and Franky Wah as solo artists but for me, some of their best tracks are those that they have worked on together, they just compliment each other so well! I’m a massive lover of breaks tracks which you’ll see throughout my Trainspotting selection but this track just has the feels for me. The deep Sub Pads layered with the beautiful melodic elements, soaring synth pads and vocal chops just get me and I love the track.

ANUQRAM, Ash Nova – On My Knees (Extended Mix) – Anjunabeats

This is a relatively new one for me, an artist I hadn’t heard of before hearing this track on some promo’s I had from Anjuna. The bassline is so good! hits you straight away with some beautiful strings and atmosphere followed by a really infectious vocal. The chord progressions are just so moving and the arp’s are lovely. It’s a must for me when I’m selecting tracks that they evoke feelings and this one does it for me.

Solarstone, Darren Tate, Julie Scott – A Long Way From Home (Straight From DAT Remix) – Anjunabeats

Solarstone AKA Richard Mowatt signed some of my very first productions and has always supported me. I’ve always been a big fan of his music from the late 90’s to present day and I regularly go and see his shows because his sets are always so varied. His most recent release on Anjunabeats co-Produced with Darren Tate and Julie Scott is the bomb! Another beautiful breaks track with a mega meaty sub and sonorous orchestral strings, Julie Scott compliments the track with some really nice vocals and everything just works for me. It’s so catchy!

Weissach, Ana Be – Fly (Extended Mix) – Krafted Records

Weissach is a Drum and Bass alias for producers Simon Sinfield and Paul Sawyer who run UK independent label Krafted Records. I’ve had quite a few signings with the label now and they are so supportive of me as a producer and DJ, in addition to this they’re really lovely people which is a rarity in the music industry nowadays. I love lots of their independent releases but this one is a special one for me. Fly is a liquid drum and bass track featuring the beautiful vocals of Ana Be. It’s so well produced and has a really catchy topline from Ana, you can regularly find me singing this one at the top of my voice. It’s such a great track!

Joplyn – Remind Me (Booka Shade Remix) – None Of The Above N.O.T.A Berlin

I first heard this track at a Shen night while I was in Ibiza with my partner Ben. It was a really special night in a sweaty club with the most amazing vibe! Sasha was doing a B2B set with Franky Wah and dropped this naughty track. It’s a sexy record and really gets you moving and grooving. It was so catchy from the offset and I just lost myself in it, the drop is just so good!

Eynka – Beyond Us (Extended Mix) – Stress Records

Another delight of a breaks track. This track from UK producers Eynka is another one of those tracks that just give me the feels. Proper goosebumps! Beautiful melodies, cinematic elements, strings, and arps topped with some haunting vocals! Sublime track.

Pete K – For Love (Extended Mix) – Stress Records

Another one from UK house label Stress Records! If you don’t follow this label you should… a recent release is this one from Pete K. I have been a big fan of his past productions but “For Love” is a track that I’ve been spinning a lot recently. It’s such a feel good track with lots of uplifting elements, a really deep bass and some very cool vocal chops.

Between Us – I know (Extended Mix) – Magic Muzik

Released in 2022 on Magic Muzik this has been a firm favourite for me. “I Know” is a summery feel good track with uplifting elements but it’s laid back and dreamy. The vocal is stunning.

Lange – Drifting Away (GVN Remix) – Armada Captivating

Originally released in 2002 as a Trance track, “Drifting Away” was one of those nostalgic tracks that I listened to repeatedly in my younger years. My music tastes have changed since but I still love Trance elements in a track so I was delighted to hear this awesome breaks remix by Irish producer GVN. It’s been a staple in my record box for a few years now and it always gets a great reaction when I play it live.

Chicane – The Belief – Modena Records

I have loved Chicane forever and his music is something of an inspiration to me. This track “The Belief” was the inspiration for my new track “Desire”. I love the breaks elements and the euphoric plucks, coupled with the cinematic and orchestral composition it’s just perfect. I always open my sets with a downtempo intro track and this once has it all for me!
