I Love Disco with The Diaz Brothers

Shoreditch clubbing pioneer Juan Leal from The Diaz Brothers is back in the heart of East London with his monthly party, “I Love You But I’ve Chosen Disco” at the intimate Horse & Groom. Joined on Friday November 18th by Gerrardo, who recently smashed Studio 338 alongside Norman Jay as well as bringing the vibes to parties at Ibiza’s Pikes and to the Wild Corner at #1 Club in the World, Hi Ibiza. Juan’s Ditchcoteque party has been a stalwart of London’s nu disco scene since the 2000’s having hosted residencies at the “Last Days of Shoreditch” at the Red Gallery; Drunken Monkey and the King’s Head Members Club.

“Inspired by disco I play the widest musical styles I can whilst keeping everyone dancing and smiling. It’s a great job and my best takeaways from the parties are when people who’ve been on the dance floor all night tell me that they heard the music being played from the street and came in and then stayed till the end at 4am leaving with huge grins. It’s really inspiring when you get an ovation at the end of a really uplifting party.”

Here’s the Diaz Brothers current 10 Ditchcoteque Playlist.

8. “More Love” – Dam Swindle

A track that takes you back to what has been the centre of the Dam Swindle sound over the past 10 years. Conga loops, vocal chops, synth stabs and a simple setting to keep the tension…it’s all here. Add to that a simple funk bass loop and you’ve got yourself a modern-day Swindle classic.
