Even looking at this on paper with guest vocals supplied by just esteemed and talented singers this looks like one interesting opus. On listing it’s further confirmed as the multi-talented talented British musician, producer and DJ pulls together an ensemble worthy of his talent. “When I first set out to make ‘In Time’, I soon realised I had an amazing opportunity to stretch myself and collaborate with high profile guests. It’s been a privilege and an incredible journey of sound, poetry and rhythm,” says Earnshaw who’s created an opus with an energy level high enough to make an impact on dancefloors, whilst still being musical enough for home listening pleasure. Conceptually he’s created a beautifully constructed opus of Balearic-kissed beats, rolling dance grooves and subtle nuances that sound more delicious with each successive play. Highlights are many, and include the rollin’ funky of the euphemistic ‘My Door Is Open’ from Carleen Anderson, the stellar soul singing of Jocelyn Brown on the rousing ‘Worthy’, the vintage jazz-funk feel of the Kenny Thomas-sung ‘Waiting’, and the sleazy seductive pace that makes ‘Rise’ with Ursula Rucker’s poetic verses and Roy Ayers silky vibes an equally irresistible offering. The resultant is a mesmerising listen time-and-time again, oozing with musical flare and sharp production savvy, and it’s these qualities that may well see it crowded as one of the albums of 2010.
