DMC Kicks Back…
Finbarr Out Of Retirement For Sign Of The Times!

How did you get involved with the Sign Of The Times parties?
“A few of us used to go back to Mark Moore’s flat after clubs and I was nearly  always the one in charge of the sounds. Mark liked my taste and range in music  and so suggested to Fiona that she could do a lot worse than getting me involved.”

Is there an anthem or big tune that you hear now that instantly brings back the  dance floor at the Sign Of The Times?
“‘No memories’ by Scarlet Fantastic”

Favourite all time DJ?
“Mark Moore and Paul Oakenfold.”

Will you be hitting the dancefloor or the bar?
“I’m a dance floor dolly for definite.”

What was the best night you ever had in a club?
“If I was to name the top 10 nights of my life, half of them would be at Sign of The Times, the other half would be in Ibiza.”

Your biggest record at the Sign Of The Times parties?
“King’s ‘Love and Pride’.”

Your biggest DJ disaster?
“Umm I’d rather not say but it was recorded for posterity by the guys from  The Betty Ford Clinic”.

Did Paulo ever do anything?
“Only when his medication wore off.”

Most hedonist experience you had, or witnessed during those days.
“In Ibiza definitely. Because I was a DJ, I got to meet lots of extremely rich  and famous people over there. Being in a room filled with film-stars etc and  indulging in illegal activities with them does strange things to your head.”

What do you do now – and do you still spin out?
“I now work in digital advertising and also an artist. I still couldn’t  live without my music but I fell out of love of DJing many moons ago.  Fiona is officially bringing me out of DJ retirement’ for this one off.”

Where would you go for a dance now in London?
“Last place was The End, but that won’t happen again will it?”

From your Irish roots, what Irish ‘thing’ would you like to see in London?
“My family.”

How did your art come about, and is your living room just full of huge canvases?
“I’ve always been artistically driven but never had the time to really  indulge in the old days. As my life became quieter I put more time/effort into  it. It’s now a necessity for me to live happily. And my art is not just  confined to the living room!”

Finish the sentence: “I’ll never forget this one time at a Sign of The Times party…”
“…when I remained drug and drink free. Obviously that is a blatant lie.”

Sign of The Times returns on Saturday November 29th at Sin,
