After hours grooving at the best after parties in the world…
Kool And The Gang – Summer Madness (De-Lite Records)
This is one of the first jazz-funk tunes we ever heard over ten years ago in a historic vinyl shop in our town. Every time we listen to the Rhodes chords we fall into a deeply inspired mode.
Kings of Tomorrow – Young Hearts (Defected)
The title says everything about this classic, we have the best memories ever of when we were both teenagers, singing along to it in front of the speakers. The best chord sequence ever for us!
Kerri Chandler – Atmospheric Beats (Ibadan)
This is why we truly have a serious respect for Mr. Kerri Chandler. This is the ultimate classic from New Jersey for us.
Ferrer & Sydenham Inc. – Sandcastles (Ibadan)
This is our favourite instrumental deep tune of the last ten years. We learned a lot listening to this vinyl hundreds times hanging out in the studio – still in love with the triangle 4/4 sound in the intro!
Michelle Weeks – The Light (Purple Music)
We’ve heard many vocal tracks released in the 2000’s, but this is still our favourite due to the incredible vocal performance from Michelle and the amazing edit energy!
The Brothers Johnson – Stomp (A&M Records)
This disco tune is a staple in our bag, there are many classics from the 70’s we love, but this is WOW! it sounds like a record that was made today, its so fresh, but was made 40 years ago! True, deep respect to the musicians of this era for being so futuristic. House Music has a lot to thank them for.
Jazztronik – Dentro Mi Alma (Osunlade Yoruba Soul Remix) (Especial Distribution)
Osunlade is one of our favourite producers in the scene. We love his style as he really keeps his Afro roots alive with his music. He really delivered some of his best work on this remix, you have to listen a couple of times to understand how brilliant it is, it sets off goose bumps when vocals kick it. He’s a maestro for us.
Kem – Heaven (Marlon D & Groove Assassins Remix) (Jellybean Soul)
If we think about our first time ever DJing at legendary Southport Weekender, we immediately remember the magic moment of singing this one with all the Southport crowd, amazing memories!
Voices Of Life – The World Is Love ‘Say The World’ (Silk Entertainment)
We were just teenagers when we bought this classic vinyl from the 90’. Still go crazy for the hypnotic bassline and sing along to freestyle vocals an the beginning of the tune (“mm mm mm mm ba ba”) – Classic!
Darryl D’Bonneau – It’s The Spirit (Souldynamic Go Deep Remix) (Underground Collective)
A couple of years ago we had the honour to make our own reinterpretation of this classic soulful tune. When Darryl sings “it was the spirit moving, deep down in my soul” it’s so emotional.
