SHOCKOUT
VERY FRIENDLY

A crucial collection of material originally released via the Tigerbeat6 label that explores the soundclash genres that studio technology has, probably unwittingly, allowed to ferment.  Ragga, breakcore, jungle, dub, hip-hop and IDM, spliced, diced and mashed by artists like Kid606, The Bug, Eight Frozen Modules, Com.A, and DJ/Rupture/Collage, along with MC’s such as Wayne Lonesome, holding the listener thrall to enough bassline pressure to melt a polar icecap.  Look beyond the initial thrill of noise and sound aerobatics, however,  you’ll find producers and lyricists experimenting with rhythm and space, much like their earlier 70’s dub counterparts, finding ways to use and abuse the hardware far wider than the simple plug and play functionality it’s creators intended for it.
