And so the Michael Jackson exploitation continues. This time it’s ‘Thriller’ that undergoes cosmetic surgery and is transformed into a near-essential number in much the same way ‘Billie Bushwacka’ made ‘Billie Jean’ once more palatable. Purely instrumental and using that oh-so-familiar riff and bubbling bassline, the tension is built as additional strings create even more apprehension of what’s to come as the filters open. The irony is that although you expect the vocal (or at the very least Vincent Price’s gothic wordology) to eventually come crashing in, it never does, and as a result this is all the better for it and will undoubtedly help it find favour with just as many credible DJs as top 40 ones.
