Viva Voca are Anita & Kevin Robinson, a husband & wife team based in Portland, Oregon, & the 2 x 7” “Alive With Pleasure”, is their stunning debut U.K. release. The title cut has got a funky Mercury Rev / Rolling Stones feel, before breaking down into slightly twisted sweetness & innocence as Anita takes the mic, then she strolls out the door with a glam swagger. Kevin takes the lead amongst the soft psychedelics of “Red D-lish”, before upping the dose & getting blown to oblivion. Disc 2 descends on the fuzzy cloud of “Fashionably Lonely”, then departs with the it’s not what it seems parade, of “Brightest Part Of Everyone”. Viva Voca have come up with something special here, I think you’re going to hear a lot more of them in the not too distant future.
