It won’t surprise you to learn that there is a lot of piano action on Joey Negro’s latest compilation. The Italians seemed to know the right keys to press when making their house riffs, and ‘Italo House’ proves that with a succession of good time floor fillers that successfully blend these with some more moody moments such as ‘Alone’ by Don Carlos, which the press release rightly equates more with Chicago, and which opens the compilation. You would be hard pressed to find a better or more uplifting vocal house track than Soft House Company’s ‘What You Need’, which lifts the middle of the set, but Jestofunk’s ‘I’m Gonna Love You’ and dfgd also work their considerable magic. A very strong and very happy collection!
