Tim Green – Halftone (Remixes) – (Get Physical Music)

The Original version of Halftone puts me in mind of being a bottle in the production line of pure liquid gold – (and I’m talking about poppers). Trundling past vats of the burbling, swirling tech-house torrent as we descend from one tightly packed conveyor belt to another. Then there’s that sweet moment when the inside is filled, the lid hermetically sealed, the label stamped and off we roll to a million outlets where we sit gleaming on a shelf until the spell is broken and it’s pounding hearts, throbbing carotid pulses and elephant ears for all concerned. Step up Avatism and Atelier Francesco for ‘Halftone’ remix duties. Avatism emboldens the kick, grabs dark techno by the throat and shakes it until the money falls out of its rattling snare and hi hats filled pockets. Atelier Francesco ups everybody’s game with a smooth, sunrays bursting through the clouds and a mile wide smile reworking that would lift the spirits of the dead and disenfranchised. Midnight Roller is a laid back ‘ah yeah’ sub-bass driven groove that takes shape like the leaves of a cuban cigar, when rolled deftly on the knees of a sexy senorita. Nicson skulks around the rhythmic, tambourine syncopation with its bassline throbbing and pulsing – like doing a maze without a map. There’s truly something for everybody here so it’s well worth investigating.
