Shlomi Aber – Clones in my Backroom/Zipperwork – (Be As One)

Few producers can be relied on to consistently bring the heat quite like Israeli techno pioneer, Shlomi Aber. The man has been releasing bombs for years on his always clued-in Be As One label, and whether they’re from Aber or one of the many producers he’s enlisted to release on the label, listeners can also be rest assured that there’ll be a certain strand of quality permeating through each and every release.

And so it is that Shomi himself perks up for the latest chapter in what’s already been a heady story for the Be As One label. A double A-side affair (as tends to be his forte), Clone in my Backroom/Zipperwork bears all the hallmarks of a producer at ease in the studio with his own skillset. ‘Clones’ goes first. A really raucous techno affair, it’s constructed with melody at its core yet still maintains a fierce and unrelenting punch. Dropped at the right time, it’s sure to cause consternation on the ‘floor thanks to its alarming frequences.

Zipperwork is more moody still but also the sum of fewer parts. A dirty, grinding rollercoaster of a track, it relies on some heavy atmospheric vibes to bring the heat. All things told, this is vintage work from the Israeli – and another notable addition to the Be As One catalogue.
