The class that swathes Rupert Huber and Richard Dorfmeister’s jazz lounge chic reserves & uncorks ‘JAC’ for a clientele listening high from the balcony through those dinky binoculars. There’s a certain act-by-act structure in force that shifts the spotlight across a tailor-made diva one-on-one (Samia Farah on ‘Heidi Bruehl’), fluttering deep house aristocracy, the runaway ace ‘Pyjama’, and the willowy slow-goers ‘Naschkatze’ and ‘Sala’. It says something about the LP’s overall quality that disco bouncer ‘Damentag’ sounds out of place, yet is one of the worthiest inclusions on this fine night out at the Viennese opera.
