I do like Christmas and birthdays. It’s all about the surprise element – the ‘I wonder what’s in that box there, under that tree there, underneath that wrapper’. Dropout is just like that. Opening with a gentle vocodered volca it crops into a bad ass, heavy as a happy hippo, electro pop meets nu house work out that delivers on every front. It’s an ‘Essential New Tune’ essential and has the mainstream AAA list glitterati from the Magician to Martin Solveig shaking their disco fingers in approval. It’s a wicked surprise and one that I makes me smile every time I see people’s faces when the bassline drops. A very nice surprise indeed.
