Naufer – Arnkhaar EP – (Nosso)

When it comes to electronic music, the U.S. has entered a sort of fertile period unlike any its witnessed since arguably the 80s. One such producer whose sound we’re digging and certainly seems to be a man on the cusp of something special is Naufer, an American producer with an interesting sound that’s very much his own. He comes up trumps on his latest release here. Entitled Arnkhaar, it’s a stripped back saunter to the depths of discerning house and techno that we’re really digging.

The action doesn’t take long to come around either, as the original immediately sets its stall out in impressive fashion. Delightfully well produced and full of suspense, it plays out like a Levon Vincent-esque production. And you don’t need us to tell you that that’s high praise indeed. Next up we have the producer’s second original, ‘’Aldegarr’’. This time, it’s indebted to more minimal tropes. Again, it’s a hypnotic and atmospheric take on the genre that’s sure to win Naufer respect aplenty.

The second half of the package is dominated by two remixes, the first of which comes from Lui, who tackles the original in a stellar, groovy fashion. Kchapa also opts to take on the same track, as he gives a gentle electro-inspired touch. With something for everyone here, this really is a release that’s worth its weight in gold. On this basis, Naufer is nothing if not a talent to watch out for over the next while.
