Red’Out – Odyssey – (Play Label Records)

For its 9th release, the Play Label Records imprint looks to the talents of Red’Out, who serves up two great originals. Those two then get remixed in style by Latency and Denis Horvat and the EP is a second on the label after the great success of his last one back in June 2014. It proves the man has evolved his style and is now at the top of his game.

Waiting For Saturn is a prickly, broody deep house cut with rich rubbery bass. It rolls along and sucks you in with some spooky magical keys and the Denis Horvat remix strips it back yet further. His spine tingling version is awash with great pads and chords and really takes you to another level. The next original from Red’Out is Daisy Bell, which has a dark sense of paranoia and urban menace about it. The synths are frazzled and texturally rich and the groove is big and inviting. It is then Latence who steps up to remix and does so with a chunky sense of subdued funk, heavyweight drum work and nice skip in his drums. Overall this is a magical EP full of style.
