The Shortwave Set are by no means your average South East London posse, in fact they come over as a bunch of drug loving magpies / wombles, collecting other peoples discarded bits & pieces, then making atmospheric slightly twisted psychedelic numbers with their lot, whilst living on a diet of Bombay mix, cheap supermarket lager & baccy. Highlights include the extremely catchy “Is It Any Wonder“ with it‘s warped lush strings & cute vocal, “Slingshot“ floating harmonies on tinkling ivory‘s, & “In Your Debt“ which comes over like Goldfrapp dueting with The Beatles. “The Debt Collection” has got a certain sunshine 60’s feel to it, but it’s also very now, & could quite easily end up being one of those albums that steadily sells by word of mouth , becoming a cult classic & eventually going platinum.
