Oasis – Wonderwall
This is one of my favourite pop songs. I love the arrangement and especially the string section. It was a huge track in the Netherlands and is reminiscent of the late Beatles music. Although it sounds quite upbeat it also has a darker side to it.
Michael Jackson & Paul McCartney – Say Say Say
I absolutely love the original and have loved this since it came out. I don’t know if it was a huge track in the UK but it has so many good memories attached to it. I like McCartney generally but this collaboration is very nostalgic. It’s also helped us to create a huge track so thumbs up!
ABC – The Look Of Love
This is a great record and one of the biggest one for them too I think. The production from Trevor Horn is fantastic. Not one that we could play in a club but still one for the collection and definitely one that we’d place at home or in the studio.
Hit House – Jack to the Sound of the Underground
Peter ‘Hit House’ Slaghuis is one of our heroes. I remember him as being one of the first people that was into sampling records like a mad man. Now it is the done thing in almost every genre of music from house to hip hop to soul records RESPECT!
Paul Van Dyke – For an Angel
This track in particular brings back memories of the early Ibiza days. The whole early Ibiza scene – people looked forward to that even alone all year around and went all out during those weeks. The scene over there is very different now. It reminds me of the great party atmosphere that this track created in clubland.
MKII – Used By DJ
I remember this as one of the first house tracks around. It was around 1998 and this reminds me of a time in my life – it was a huge club stormer and I remember people hearing it in the clubs first time around and just wondering what was being played! People don’t even bat an eyelid at house music now.
Ernesto vs Bastian – Dark Side of the Moon [Ingrosso and Axwell Remix]
This is one of the first records that we remember that was a perfect marriage between the trance and the house worlds. This mix particularly was one that made me feel that I wanted to create something like this.
Duran Duran – Come Undone
Duran Duran are one of our favourite bands of all time! Of all their tracks this is one that really stands out.
A bit of a touchy song but definitely one that I play back at mine when the occasion suits.
Dr.Dre – Forgot about Dre.
This has to be one of the comeback records of all time and shows the king of hip hop at his best.. I remember when this first came out during the summertime. It seems like everyone was in to hip hop then…I’m sure that I also heard a hard house remix around at the time on a white label.
Neneh Cherry & Yousou N’Dour – 7 Seconds
I know this is a seriously old record but it is such a classic. The melody is haunting but sends out a very strong message. IT is one of my favourite tracks and I still play it occasionally. Although the message is quite emotional it is such a great track to chill out to.
