Roman duo Bio-Muse have been joined by former were-rabbit queen of Sabrettes, Slab and recently Two Lone Swordsmen, Nina Walsh. Their seven-inch [plus DVD and teabag!] made me think how rarely someone comes along with the sole intention of making as much racket and upsetting as many people as possible [while leaving survivors deliriously happy]. The feedback-drenched extreme noise terror here recalls anything from the early Stooges through Throbbing Gristle to Aphex Twin. Nina’s disembodied intoning cuts through the triphop cacophony like Nico chilling the electric storm of the Velvet Underground’s Exploding Plastic Inevitable. It’s not easy listening. It makes you sit up and, depending on the mood, either roar with pleasure or hurl the disc across the room with the contents of your stomach. As an antidote to the blandness riddling every strain of music in 2005, it’s a very necessary evil.
