LINDSTROM & PRINS THOMAS
ESKIMO

Throughout the year Eskimo has been making a name through its raucously audacious mix albums. Now they unveil their first artist album. It’s to Norway’s red-hot duo Hans-Peter Lindstrom and ‘Prins’ Thomas Hermansen that the luscious vibe and huge enjoyment quotient here runs as high as any of those groundbreaking compilations. Here the pair get to let loose their musical obsessions and embroider them into a sound of their own. Many of the tracks hover between the late 70s-early ’80s post-punk boogie sound which predated electro. ‘Boney M Down’ and ‘Turkish Delight’ are pure Giorgio Moroder circa Midnight Express soundtrack. There are near-ambient soundscapes [‘Don O Van Budd’] and wafting accoustic bubblebaths [‘Horseback’]. Then ‘En Dag I Mai’ ropes in the old ‘French Kiss’ riff. Whatever the electronic cake they’re licking, this album is total guilty pleasure from start to finish.
