DONE WITH THE SCENE
WICHITA

It’s that epic nu-wave Numan-esque electronic cut “Done With The Scene” from the Kid’s “Resilience” long player, set loose to cause mayhem with a swathe of new mixes to match.  The original is still tremendous, a long, sonorous sound-off, sounding like a gentler “War Of The Worlds” invasion set to shuffling beats.  Scottish outfit MOGWAI up the electronics on the fritz quota, fizzing synths, bleeps and headthumping beats doing little to displace the anthemic feel.  Finally, bravecaptain aka ex-Boo Radley Martin Carr turns out a finely tuned and shimmering take.  Elsewhere, there’s also “Heartbeat”, “King Of Harm”, and “Spanish Song” in various guises, rounding out a great value EP, but it’s really about the exceptional “Done With The Scene” – a modern classic if ever there was.
