Prok and Fitch make their second appearance on Lee Foss’s label and once again serve up razor sharp tracks designed to go off whilst finding a perfect sweet spot between house and techno.
Prok
Stone Roses – Fools Gold
A very special record, and a personal firm favourite back to mine choice, evokes great memories of a misspent youth with great mates.
Ben Watt feat. Estelle – Pop a Cap In Yo Ass
Got hooked on Ben Watt whilst working in a record shop in Brighton, Buzzin’ Fly is a class label & this is probably my favorite track he’s produced.
Adam F – Circles
Had just discovered raves when this was released, hazy afterparty memories listening to this over and over, this track brings it all back.
Fleetwood Mac – Never Going Back Again
Growing up as kid Fleetwood Mac was always on the stereo at home, and has been a huge fan ever since. Whenever I need to switch off whether it be after a gig or a long day in the studio, often Rumours is the one.
Roy Davis Jr ft Peven Everett – Gabriel (Live Garage Version)
Absolutely love this record, comfortably in my top 5 records off all time, the vocal and bass are something else, timeless!
Fitch
Todd Terje – Strandbar (Disko Version)
This is such a great record to keep the party vibe going, it’s all about the piano drop halfway through, one of those moments to stop whatever conversation you’re having and just enjoy!!
Paperclip People – Throw
When I started clubbing back in the day this was the first record I’d put on at any after party. So many fond yet blurry memories listening to this record, and let’s face it – Carl Craig can do no wrong!!
Kavinsky – Nightcall
Ever since I watched the movie (Drive) this record has been a mainstay in every playlist on my Spotify. Regardless of your mood it always seems to fit… and that key change half way though just does me every time…
Saint Germain – Sure Thing
The ultimate head nodder and you can’t knock anything that uses a bit of Jazz for inspiration… Pass the Rizlas mate!!
Dusky – Spruce
I’m a big fan if Dusky’s music, their melodies connect with me on every level and their vocals always lock me in, I used to listen to a lot of breaks back in the day and this just has enough of that vibe to add an element of nostalgia.
Prok & Fitch – Where’s The Party (Repopulate Mars)
For more than a decade, UK pair Ben Prok and James Fitch have released on an impressive stream of labels such as Relief Records, Sola, Solid Grooves Records and Repopulate Mars, dropping their huge ‘The Homie’ on the latter imprint last year. They now make their second appearance on Lee Foss’s label and once again serve up razor sharp tracks designed to go off whilst finding a perfect sweet spot between house and techno. Featuring Kyozo, ‘Where’s The Party’ is a brilliantly physical affair with rock-solid kicks making for a driving groove. Trippy synths and bubbling, rugged bass flesh things out beneath the vocal stabs and a rave is sure to ensue when this one gets dropped. Next up, ‘Griminess’ is a little more paired back, with infectious drum loops bringing a rubbery funk and unhinged vocal samples, percussive sounds and odd FX all making it a playful yet effective tune run through with bursts of acid madness.
