I’ve always been a sucker for a good disco sample and ‘What Can I Say’, Boz Scagg’s only top ten UK hit from early 1977, forms the basis for this soulful shuffler featuring the vocals of the ‘90s dance diva. In the Community Vocal Mix this oozes with retro goodness fitting of the sample source with William Royce Scagg’s song taking pride of place alongside the London Collective’s production savvy – shame then that the heart is ripped out on the edgier but far less affective Dirty Spirit Mix. ‘Lido Shuffle’ anyone?
