DAVID THOMAS BROUGHTON
THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO INSUFFICIENCY
PLUG RESEARCH

Previously released through the Birdwar label, Leeds-based Broughton now brings his debut to a wider audience via the Plug Research label.  Recorded in one take in a church, Broughton uses only his acoustic guitar, simple loops and a drum machine to make the kind of acid-hazed folk that outshines many of the current nu-folk pretenders, yet retains the essence of the music’s roots, by virtue of his painfully honest songwriting skills and singing.  With it’s meditations on love, death, and life, this isn’t the kind of album you dip into for the odd five minutes here or there;  this is something to lose yourself in, completely, from start to finish to fully appreciate the beauty of music on here.
