Berlin’s Robi Insinna plucks a second single off his ‘On’ album and plays host to what is possibly Trash-man Erol Alkan’s finest work to date in the bargain. This is what remixing is all about – using a tune’s basic elements to create a new monster which might come as something of a shock in the process of causing utter carnage on the dancefloor. Erol’s Mustapha 3000 mix is pure 1985-syle drum machine abuse, rather like the DST mix of the Last Poets’ ‘Mean Machine’ or early Beasties dubs. It clatters and pummels, gets shafted by a guitar break and ropes in a bit of Anton Spivac’s vocal and is awesome in its power and attack. Elsewhere, there’s the album version and a couple more Headman club treatments in electro-house vein. All good fun but check the Alkan for sheer B-boy bombast.
