Max Sedgley’s long awaited debut album has arrived at the perfect moment, as its sun-drenched vibes deserve to be drifting out of many an open window. ‘Happy’, of course, will be familiar as the anthem that’s soundtracked many a TV moment as well as doing damage to a few dancefloors with its funky bass, but there’s several here to rival it. ‘I’ve Been Waiting’ is a finely crafted fusion of funk and disco, ‘Celebrity’ finds Sedgely doing his own voiceovers while ‘Deja Vu’ takes a bit of time out for introspection, an emotive vocal track the result. With warm keyboard harmonies and funky beats, it’s a feel-good album that presses all the right buttons for summer listening. No hesitation needed – buy this album for instant happiness!
