Claude Von Stroke is a man with a sense of humour, as the cover picture for ‘Beware Of The Bird’ indicates. Most of his music is house-based and makes much of the lower end, but he thinks nothing of experimenting with jungle noises, whistling and horses neighing – all adding to the quirky weirdness of tracks such as ‘Chimps’ or ‘Birdshit’. Meanwhile he caters for the deeper end of the market with the excellent deep house of ‘Cicada 17 Year Mix’, or ‘Who’s Afraid Of Detroit’. A characterful album.
