Sebastien Tellier
Universe
Lucky Number

Sebastien Tellier’s new album ‘Universe’, was created specifically for the UK market. The album combines the highlights from Sebastiens recent No.1 iTunes French release ‘Session’s alongside the standout tracks from his soundtrack to the film Narco. The tracks selected from the Sessions album are  stripped down versions of tunes from his acclaimed albums, ‘Politics, & LIncroyable Vérité’, where Sebastien recorded live versions of his previous work in their most purest form.  Film sound tracks would be the first introduction to Sebastiens music as was prominently featured in Sofia Coppolas film ‘Lost In Translation’, and the title track Universe, forms the backdrop for the climactic scene in fellow Parisians Daft Punks recently Cannes premiered ‘Opus Electroma’, proving himself to be a cinematic pop poet. The ‘Narco’ tracks included here further showcase the lush and sparkling orchestration that Sebastien has practically trademarked, and which came to prominence on his classic ‘La Ritournelle’, also include here in its limited single only Mr. Dan version,  undoubltly one of the singles of 2005. Crazy moogs on tracks like ‘La Ballade Du Georges’ and ‘Le Demon Pupkin’ combine with his trademark strings further betraying the son of a prog-rocker (his father was a member of 70s French band Magma). And finally – a brand new track, ‘Classic’ a song about the inflexibility growing inside Sebastien with age. Mr Tellier is an exceptional, highly personal and intimate artist echoing the spirit of ‘the-one-off’, an individual, an indomitable post mortal, a Parisian poet and a wild man of many talents.
