Not exactly his debut album, although you wouldn’t be alone if you were thinking this. Such was the (much deserved) praise of single “La Ritournelle”, much of his other work got a little overshadowed in the rush of enthusiasm. This release for the Lucky Numbers label should put things right as it brings together a number of recordings, including highlights from his recent “Sessions” release, soundtrack “Narco”, plus a selection from the albums “Politics” and “L’Incroyable Verite”. Naturally, “La Ritournelle” is present – in original form and the marvelous Mr Dan remix – but beyond this, Tellier proves himself to be a master of orchestration and song writing, casually blending instrumental epics with, varyingly, lonely, romantic and uplifting lyrics. No small feat. Buy it for yourself and a friend today.
