Having made a huge impact with singles ‘Acceptable In The 80s’ and ‘The Girls’, Calvin Harris turns his attention to the long player, and comes up with an hour of electro disco that combines flair and a sense of humour. Rooted heavily in the 1980s – of course – Harris’ music brings enough of an individual voice to the dancefloor, so that when he half sings, half speaks of parties (‘Merrymaking At My Place’), the music biz (‘This Is The Industry’) or hedonism (the ‘Acceptable’ cousin ‘Vegas’), it’s all done with the party in mind and the tongue slightly in the cheek. Comparisons with Mylo are likely but the two have one thing in common – they’ve each made an album worthy of summer domination. Huge, groovy fun.
