Wigan-born Nancy Elizabeth has released one record so far on Timbreland Records, having practiced her craft providing support for acts like Tunng, A Hawk & A Hacksaw, James Yorkston, and more. Her debut for the reliably eclectic Leaf label is a great indicator of the sound she’s been developing. “Hey Son” begins with just her fragile voice and guitar, gradually unfurling under percussive waves and banks of voices, resulting in a mini-epic of widescreen proportions that feels much heftier than it’s 3 minutes duration. A low key classic.
