Devotchka are a band that have gained massive cult following in the United States, blending Eastern European and South American influences, into a sizzling melting pot of fired up gritty heartbreaking gypsy punk. ‘How It Ends’ was recorded in the Arizona desert in 2004, it slowly but surely built on word of mouth, resulting in Devotchka writing the soundtrack for the movie Little Miss Sunshine. Into summer 2007 and ‘How It Ends’ is getting a well deserved and long overdue European release, still sounding new and exciting, like it was freshly made today. Devotchka have got some U.K. dates lined up, and their performances are said to be transcendent, with audience members crying and dancing all in the space of just one song.
