This could just as easily top the techno section but such is the power of this record and its direct link to the original floor-destroying principles of house music that it can piss all over the opposition anywhere! Simon first learnt about dancefloor heaven from the euphoria-drenched floor of Leeds’ immortal Back To Basics before starting a residency at the city’s Asylum club that’s lasted seven years. In 2004 he started recording as part of the Lip Trick, caused a stir with his ‘Plastik’ single and now debuts solo on 20:20 with something truly wonderful to behold as it becomes complex, original and devastating, all at the same time! ‘Gutterlevel’ rides a ‘French Kiss’ shuffle with stabs, acid plumbing and rattlesnake clicks all gaining steam to reach a mayhemic peak. ‘Bandit’ twists, turns and tweaks the turkey’s bell-end with major under-carriage throb and starburst riff not unlike Flash’s ‘The Message’. The man has obviously blossomed into a fearsome talent and this massive tune should be wielded relentlessly everywhere.
