Nick Talbot, the man behind Gravenhurst, looks to be well on his way to acquiring a full band sound, without turning his back on the softly ambient side of the project. The band find a Cure-inspired high on the wonderful ‘Hollow Men’, while softly murmured vocals and atmospherics on the likes of ‘Saints’ and ‘Grand Union Canal’ bring a wide open sound to the stereo, inspiring a contemplative mood without any naval gazing. Sublime – and with the possibilities a full band offers, an intriguing combination of electronics and guitars.
