New Yorks legendary Nervous label returns to former glories in partnership with Oscar G and his live mix CD. Now in his seventh year as resident DJ at Miamis renowned Club Space, and rather than recycle the same old tracks currently making the compilation rounds, the Murk man has selected tracks what he considers to be destined for greatness in the next 12 months and beyond. They include Bingo Caches serial dubbed out Dancin, Sebastien Legers stark Mars, his production partner Ralph Falcon with the camp and dramatic I Need Someone, along with OGs tracky Chunky Buddha. Mixed live with total self-assurance, this aptly highlights the producers past tribal influences. If youve yet to witness Oscar live theres no better way to enjoy their shrewdly structured mix of percolating beats, synth-driven basslines and tripped-out vocals (or theres a DVD bonus disc if you cant be boovered to get off your arse and actually go to a club). On the downside theres a tad too much crowd noise seeping through at every opportunity for my personal liking, but I guess it is a live album after all.
