Plastic Operator
Why Don’t You?
Fine Day

Plastic Operator are Mathieu Gendreu from Quebec and Pieter Van Dessel from Antwerp who met at Westminster University in 2001 studying audio production. After co-creating their own pop vision they put out a three-track CD which pricked several ears, including Rob Da Bank who stuck their track ‘Folder’ on Sunday Best. This year’s debut album Different Places caused a stir and now comes a remix package based ‘Why Don’t You?’. Originally featuring a New Order-like bassline lashed with ‘Unfinished Sympathy’ strings as bed for the vocals, it’s now been given a roistering wonk-house treatment by Jesse Rose, who keeps the strings and vocals but swivels it floorwards with piano and deft trickery. There’s also an electro-beef version from Dario Albez and Mark Pearse obviously asimed at the nu-rave hordes.
