‘Tell Me Something’ takes a big step forward from Connie Price & The Keystones’ instrumental debut on Stones Throw. The myriad of guests include Soup from Jurassic 5 and Ohmega Watts, but this is not just a playground for vocalists, it’s a strongly unified record. Soup’s track, ‘Put Your Weight On It’, is especially good for its ‘float like a butterfly sting like a bee’ lyric, while the darkly atmospheric ‘Master At Work’ with Ohmega Watts combines bold horns with hip hop beats. The two boys making up Connie Price combine funk and hip hop in a satisfying way, and while this may be a short album, it has plenty to say.
