MIT
Coda
Half Machine Records

For once here is a press release that’s on the money, describing MIT as purveyors of ‘minimal electronic punk, taking in urgent rhythms, aggressive tribal drums and mesmerizing synthscapes’. Not perhaps what you might have expected from three German teenagers living in Berlin, but it’s sparsely effective, relying on grooves just as it does on melody and lyrical substance. Edi Winarni’s vocals are half sung, half spoken, but when there’s a storming synth riff to go with them – as there is on ‘Park’ – the whole combination lifts off.
