It’s Ireland’s hottest techno label again and the goodies they’ve got primed
to spurt out of the old sac are pretty tumultuous. Take this outing from
Heretics of disko, which is label boss Desy Palmer’s floating project which
here sees him working with Robbie Dunne aka Spectrum Is Green on a track
which first appeared as part of the Hold It Down magazine compilation a
couple of years ago. The two new mixes come courtesy of Finland’s Lackluster
[bouncing around like Richochet Rabbit in a disused robot dump] and Japan’s
Yukio taking more of an electro route with percolating percussion to arrive
at some engaging oddball alien funk. A Diff Kind Of Brotha is concrete Soul
Collective’s Kenny Black remixed by Japan’s Katsuhiko putting the female
voice through a blender studded with clicks and efx plus Leeds’ Nasty Bobby,
who stretches the vocals savagely over chattering groove reminiscent of
psychotic robo-chipmunks confronted with David Cameron’s knackers. Maximum
quality again.
