The Fading Room: Memories And Remixes
Just Music

It’s been nine years since Mark Barrott aka Future Loop Foundation delivered his last album, and in that time he’s been searching through family possessions from his childhood, which has resulted in the double CD ‘The Fading Room: Memories And Remixes’. A nostalgic album that sees the world through faded photographs and blurred home cine films, as chilled floaters breeze through hazy summers past, interspersed with snippets of family dialogue, old radio jingles and the speaking clock, which gives ‘The Fading Room’ a very quaint Sunday night television feel, as it takes you on a trip around village life through the eyes of a child, at a time when family days out were something everybody cherished. Pass us the jam sandwiches Granddad. Disc 2 ‘Remixes’ opens with the brilliant Rob Da Bank & Chris Coco mix of ‘Sunshine Philosophy’, and also features the excellent reworking of ‘This Is Where We Live’, courtesy of The Go! Team. ‘The Fading Room’ is bound to get compared to Lemon Jelly’s world, which is not a bad thing, but Future Loop Foundation definitely has more of a personal feel. Grazed knees and dodgy sandals spring to mind.
