In this three part set sits probably the best down tempo mix you’ll hear this year. It’s CD2, and manages to incorporate Steve Reich, Brian Eno, Kate Bush and Black Sabbath in an incident packed but ultimately relaxing hour, mixed superbly so that the joins don’t show. CD1 of Webster’s odyssey is more familiar, going for a deeper house sound that works well as it calls in favours from Kings Of Tomorrow (‘Changes’), Deep South and Phurry Phreaks. Deep and mellow is again the theme for the third mix, where Webster’s own productions come into play more – a healthy nine previously unreleased tracks seeing the light of day. Unusually for a compilation of this sort you’ll find it easy to return to all three mixes – but that second one will remain the eye-opening pick of the trio.
