This is Rephlex digging deep in the back room for archived material from Luke Vibert and Jeremy Simmonds in collaboration. To say it’s diverse is an understatement, and you only have to listen to third track ‘Space Mist’ to hear a number of different styles, tempi and sounds in conflict – but somehow it all comes together as a vibrant piece of drum and bass. Elsewhere there’s plenty of experimentation, which doesn’t always work – ‘Room 28 Rap’ will divide with its helium-tinged vocals, while the sample of the child’s voice in ‘Story’ is strangely disconcerting. But this is never dull, and will offer much to established fans, not to mention Cabaret Voltaire devotees.
