Mirror Music
The Strange Things I Remember
Darkroom Dubs

I’ve been sitting on this for several weeks but, apart from the fact it’s now burned a hefty hole in my trouser-seat, it’s out soon and the world really should be told about its sheer magnificence. Mirror Music is a new project launched by Silicone Soul’s Graeme Reedie and Darkroom Dubs label manager Dave Donaldson [also a noted soundtrack composer most recently responsible for the Incredible Hulk!]. They’ve already trailered the album with two singles and the effect of experiencing eleven tracks in one sitting is bowel-quakingly seismic! Mixing Dave’s widescreen cinematic sensibility with Graeme’s knack for killer house music of a hallucinogenic bent has thrown up a rump-shaking monster spouting blue flame melodies out of its pulsating sphincter with tracks like ‘Medicine’ wafting off into beatless, dreamy stratas before the disco starts up on the next planet. ‘Fun’ reminds me of nothing less than the mighty Kojak, NY cop-show soundtracking transported to the disco [the gorgeously hallucinogenic title track hovers around the light-shade in the same establishment]. Space disco is too thin a term: this is like the original Paradise Garage pleasure plateau experienced in the old gaff’s movie lounge and can’t be recommended highly enough.
