Beth Orton
Trailer Park (Legacy Edition)
Sony Music

When Beth Orton arrived with Trailer Park in 1996, she captivated listeners with a remarkably natural, unaffected singing style, something she’s remained true to ever since. What also caught the ear was an interesting array of instruments accompanying her, with a bit of electronic dressing around the side. Thirteen years on and the sound is still gorgeous, with songs like ‘She Cries Your Name’ powerful in their haunting intensity. Yet even if you got the album first time around you’ll want this remastered version, as it contains a lot of early B-sides and the contents of the rather wonderful ‘Best Bit’ EP, not to mention a few bits of Andy Weatherall trickery besides. Well worth the outlay.
