Sylvester
The Original Hits
Fantasy

Sylvester, the larger-than-life ultra-diva who defined hi-NRG disco and soundtracked the volcanic hedonism of San Francisco in the 1970s, is undergoing another lease of life thanks to the towering presence of ‘You Make Me Feel [Mighty Real]’ in awards-winning movie Milk, which tells the story of pioneering gay activist Harvey Milk, assassinated by a disgruntled conservative co-worker after managing to get elected into public office in San Francisco at its hedonistic peak. Sylvester’s timeless anthems kickstarted the wildest party the world will ever see before AIDs wreaked its deadly havoc in the 80s, [claiming Sylvester in 1988]. The movie is given as motivation for this compilation, originally released the year after Sylvester died. Ace already have Sylvester’s Fantasy albums pole-dancing blissfully in their illustrious catalogue with most of these appearing tracks on Stars: The Best Of Sylvester so devotees will already have songs like ‘Dance [Disco Heat]’ and ‘Stars’: still as near to disco heaven as it gets.
