Something In Construction

Currently celebrating five years in the music business since first emerging on Bosh, Mr Dafeet has good reason to wear a cake on his head and dive into a vat of champers. His Lost My Dog and Southside Shuffle imprints are leading the charge for a fresh burst of deep house gems splashed in early 90s NY shimmer and requisite warped humour. The Lost My Dog EP boasts his first new track for over 12 months, a bubblingly-propulsive firecracker lightly grilled in muted acid with top hook. There’s a solid trio of remixes: San Francisco’s Andrew Phelan & Origami take time out from their Prismatic Tracks to beef up the groove and add their customary live feel. LMD’s Danny Stott adds extra deepness and hippo’s rectum quotient while Stockholm’s Johan ELG, previously heard on Southside Shuffle and Low Pressings, takes a spacey acid approach.

‘Tribute 2 K’ heads three further outings on Pete’s other label, burrowing to even lower levels while waving at the gloworm’s bell-end with a cool, NY-style cruiser given added tension courtesy of the undulating bass action. ‘Mk5’ maintains the momentum while ‘Ragtag’ hops aboard a mighty Master C&J-style old school bassline. Five years but this UK house titan seems like he’s only just getting going.
