Definitely another mindblowing Rekids hose-popper here but, by a few minutes in, it’s become apparent that this is one of those special ones where the cart leaves the horse and pants fly out of the trousers by their own accord to dance into the sunset. Produced by Mathew Styles and longtime Darling Department dance promo supremo Ed Cartwright realising a long-held dream of morphing his knowledge into making music himself, the original’s got the scrotumesque bass-driven acid groove, low-slung house heave, deadly percussion and a Doorsy keyboard riff to take no prisoners on the most resistant dancefloors. The two remixes push the boat out and take the cake: the No Ears Red Beard Rosbif version echoes French disco with the sultry vox, acid-flecked chunky riffage and all-round early 80s NYC electro-boogie feel, while the Allez-Allez remix is simply stunning: the immediate thought is Plastikman as the spastik-funk beats kick in but they’re countered by ethereal synth washes and minimal undertow. An absolute gem, setting another impossible benchmark for this amazing label.
